STRUCTURAL CONDITIONS AND PREPARATION TO APPLICATION
Details Requiring Attention Before Application
For proper application of External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems, a detailed planning and the following surface analyses must be performed before beginning with the application processes.
- Substrates must be free of dust, soil, grease, etc. and must be smooth and sound. Loose surfaces or surfaces with low resistance must be washed and cleaned mechanically and preferably with pressurized water.
- The surface must not be too dry or wet. Internal and external plasters and ground grouts of the building subject to application must be properly set.
- Surface tolerance must not exceed 2 cm. In case of higher deviations, necessary repairing must be performed before adhering thermal insulation panels.
- A scaffolding net, etc. is recommended for preventing the surface from the effect of rain, wind and direct sunlight.
- The application must be done at a temperature ranging between +5°C and + 35°C.
- All details on the surface subject to application, including windows, doors, balconies, window sill profiles, dilatation joints, roof edges and parapet walls must be covered with convenient product solutions in order to prevent ingress of water into the external thermal insulation systems during tough weather conditions.
- Constructional elements (Dilatation joints, windows, wooden parts and other decorative structures) requiring protection must be covered with protective materials.
- When implementing the scaffolding, ensure for proper adjustment of the working distance between the scaffolding and the surface. Anchorage elements, to which scaffolding connections are fixed, must be slightly oblique downwards to prevent ingress of water into the holes.
- Gutters and cables on the face of the building must be repositioned proper to the ETICS system. Gutters must be planned to be at a distance of 5-7 cm outwards from the final coating of the system.
- No water insulation and moisture problems must exist on the substrates and at upper ends of the insulation measures must be taken in detail to prevent ingress of rain water behind the insulation system.
- Materials must be stored under conditions in compliance with storage standards specified in product specification sheets. Ensure that no damage occurs to fitting nets, profiles and thermal insulation panels during storage.
